We need to talk about the Church of England

In the words of a good friend of mine, Jon Godden.... 'As it's Sunday...'

Firstly I'd like to clear sonething up -  I don't believe there is a God, because if there was, then quite frankly she's a bit of a cunt. A supreme being that just sits back and watched the carnage, disease and death unfold is clearly not a friend of humanity but more like a child with a magnifying glass burning aunts.  For a start, you would have thought she'd have nipped organised religion in the but as soon as one fucker said to their mate "I know what... lets start up something organised for God, I'll get a knife and cut the ends of our cocks off'...."  Hence why God is a she - no man would have thought that was a good idea.  Fast forward from the middle bronze age to modern day Britian and we find the that POS establishment that is the Church of England.

The Church of England was not born out of divine inspiration or theological reform, but rather the selfish desires of a horny King who wanted a new wife who was hotter than the old model and hopefully would give him a son, which the other one hadn't.  It had the added bonus that he could rob and all the money and land hoarded by the existing Church.  Henry VIII, furious that the Pope wouldn't grant him an annulment from Catherine of Aragon, simply tore England away from Rome in 1534 and declared himself Supreme Head of the Church. It was less a grand spiritual movement and more a medieval temper tantrum wrapped in royal decree. The institution that emerged was built on political expediency and personal greed, setting a precedent that continues to define its operations to this day.  So in short, the Church of England was born out of pride, greed, wrath, lust, envy, gluttony, and sloth.  Not exactly Godly traits, and certainly not the best qualities to buy yourself a seat into Heaven.

The Church of England has long been dubbed 'The Conservative Party at prayer,' and when you scratch beneath the surface, it's not hard to see why. From its deep entanglements with power and privilege, the fact it struggles to keep it's junk inside its cassock, to its relentless pursuit of wealth at the expense of the vulnerable: in short the institution embodies the worst excesses of crony capitalism and unaccountable elitism. Beneath its carefully curated image of moral authority lies a festering shit-stained swamp of corruption, hypocrisy, and abuse.

The Church's hierarchy is riddled with predators and enablers. Take, for instance, the recent allegations against the Bishop of Liverpool, the Right Reverend John Perumbalath, accused of sexual assault and harassment by two women, including a fellow bishop.  Despite these grave accusations, the Church's safeguarding team reportedly discouraged one victim from filing a complaint, showcasing a blatant disregard for justice (The Times).

Not to be outdone, the former Archbishop of Canterbury, George Carey, faces potential disciplinary action over his mishandling of abuse claims. Carey allegedly allowed the Reverend David Tudor, previously barred for abusing a 16-year-old girl, to return to ministry, thereby placing countless others at risk (AP News).

The Church's history is marred by egregious sexual abuse cases, often concealed under layers of deceit. One of the most heinous involves John Smyth, a prominent barrister and volunteer at Church-affiliated summer camps during the 1970s and 1980s. Smyth subjected approximately 30 boys and young men in the UK, and 85 in Africa, to severe physical and sexual abuse. His modus operandi included administering brutal beatings under the guise of correcting 'sins' such as pride or masturbation, with some victims enduring up to 800 lashes in a single session. Despite internal reports detailing these atrocities as early as 1982, the Church orchestrated a cover-up, allowing Smyth to relocate to Africa, where he continued his predatory behavior unchecked (Independent).

The Church's complicity extended to its highest echelons. Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby, who had prior acquaintance with Smyth, became aware of the allegations in 2013 but failed to take decisive action. This gross negligence permitted Smyth's abuses to persist until investigative journalism brought them to public attention in 2017 (Channel 4).Another appalling case involves Garth Moore, a senior Church figure and chancellor of three dioceses, who in 1976 committed a 'sadistic' assault on a 15-year-old boy. Over the ensuing decades, the victim reported the abuse to numerous Church officials, including bishops, only to be met with inaction and feigned ignorance. An independent review in 2016 lambasted the Church's failure to respond appropriately, highlighting a systemic culture of denial and protectionism (The Guardian).

It should be be noted some that victims of abuse have taken their own lives.

If the Church is amoral when it comes to keeping it in its pants, it is even worse when it comes to investing the cash from a hundred thousand collection plates.  The Church's investment portfolio reads like a who's who of unethical enterprises. In a staggering display of moral flexibility, the Church invested up to £10 million in General Electric (GE), a company that supplies systems and technology for unmanned drones and fighter jets used in conflicts worldwide. While the Church feebly argues that less than 3% of GE's business is based on arms sales, the reality is that GE is the 20th-highest-ranking firm in global defense sales, with an estimated $4 billion in defense revenue (The Independent).

Moreover, the Church's entanglement with the notorious payday lender Wonga further exposes its ethical bankruptcy. Despite Archbishop Justin Welby's public condemnation of Wonga's usurious practices, the Church admitted to investing in the company, facing potential losses of up to £9 million when attempting to divest (The Guardian).

Then there's the Church Commissioners.  When you think of Church Commissioners no doubt you you are minded of a Parish Council like that one in the Vicar of Dibley.  Nothing could be further from the truth: these are hard nosed fuckers. The Church Commissioners are the financial overlords of the Church of England, managing its vast wealth with all the ethical scruples of a hedge fund. Originally established in 1948 to consolidate church assets and ensure financial stability, they have since evolved into one of the most powerful institutional investors in the UK, controlling an endowment worth over £10 billion. Their portfolio spans everything from commercial property and private equity to fossil fuels and arms manufacturing, all while the Church wrings its hands about poverty and social justice from the pulpit. Despite their immense influence, the Commissioners operate with minimal transparency, routinely resisting scrutiny over how their investments align with the Church’s supposed moral values. This isn’t stewardship, it’s wanton profiteering, dressed up in clerical robes. They operate with a level of opacity that would make a tax haven blush. Their history is marred by financial debacles, including a catastrophic £800 million loss in property speculation during the 1980s. This financial mismanagement led to serious concerns about the Church's ability to meet its pension commitments and fund clergy stipends, jeopardising the livelihoods of those they claim to shepherd (The Independent).

While the nation grapples with an acute housing shortage, the Church of England shamelessly engages in land banking, hoarding vast swathes of undeveloped land to inflate property values and bolster its financial portfolio. This avaricious strategy not only exacerbates the housing crisis but also underscores the Church's prioritisation of profit over its moral obligation to serve the community.  The Church Commissioners own approximately 105,000 acres of land, making them one of the largest institutional landowners in the UK. Much of this land remains undeveloped despite its potential to ease the housing crisis. In 2017, the Church was found to have blocked the construction of 700 homes in Somerset, citing 'concerns about the impact on the local environment' while simultaneously selling off parcels of land to the highest bidder for commercial developments (The Guardian).  Meanwhile, in Kent, the Church Commissioners were embroiled in controversy after purchasing a large tract of land with no immediate plans for development, allowing it to accrue value while local families struggled with rising rents and housing shortages (The Times).

It's funny isn't it.  The people who claim the moral highground in Christianity are invariably the least qualified to have it. Oh yes they're proud of a history that excelled at sacking monasteries, thievery and burning Catholics but just like thier founding atrocities, there is nothing remotely Christian about these cunts.  In terms of their Christianity being a bit of sham to say the least, institutionally they are only exceeded by the Dutch Deformed Church in South Africa and Ian fucking Paisley.  It's a shame Hell doesn't exist either or there would be special place in it for people like these who express the love of God by being industrial grade twats.

The Church of England's actions reveal an institution deeply entrenched in hypocrisy, prioritising wealth and power over genuine moral leadership. Its involvement in sexual abuse scandals, unethical investments, financial mismanagement, and land hoarding paints a damning picture of an organization that has strayed far from its professed values.

The Church needs to have a long hard look in the mirror, but I doubt it can see its reflection anymore.  It's high time for the Church to confront its failings and embark on a path of genuine repentance and reform.  But of course it won't.

I have no issue with people believing in God.  Although misguided, I genuinely believe that religion brings a lot of people comfort.  But organised religion is profoundly toxic and the Church of England is a gaslighting conman in a school yard with his cock out.  When thinking of the Church of England I'm reminded of that bit in the Christian Bible about it's easier for a Camel to pass through the eye of a needle than it is for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God.  If there is such a thing as divine justice then there is no place in Heaven for these defilers of belief and they will almost certainly be left behind after the rapture, choking on the sulphur.

Burn you fuckers, burn.
